Because most septic tanks are located a few feet underground, they maintain almost the same temperature throughout the year and this is the main reason why, it is possible to clean them at almost any time that you want. However, there are a few exceptions and you should pay attention to them, if you want to have the best performing septic system in your home.

Time of the year, for cleaning your septic system, may matter, if you have a lawn that you care about. If this is so, we recommend that you either clean your septic tank, when it is cold and the lawn is frozen or when it is very hot and the lawn is quite dry. This can be during winter or late summer and it will help to prevent any damage to your lawn, as well as provide some nutrients, for it to grow back.

If you have a septic tank, which is not buried very deep, (about a foot under the surface), you should try to get it cleaned during the spring. The bio-thermal temperature in the tank, will also help prevent freezing, which is very important in septic maintenance.

Besides this, septic systems only need to get disposed or cleaned before they are filled, as this will prevent a lot of problems and even brings sanitary benefits.
